Activation Time

I have ADSL2+ with a non BT ISP.
Line rental is paid to BT.
Wanting to switch to BT Infinity 1, I have been given a activation date of June 11th which is five weeks and three days from today 5th May.
Is this the 'accepted normal time frame'.
Is there enormous technical difficulties for such a change.
I have to query why BT is advertising so hard if they are under pressure to fulfill
orders with such a lengthy activation delay.

Fulfilling the order is down to Openreach engineer availability in your area. Has FTTC only just become available there or has it been around for yonks?

I came only to say I have to applaud your use of the word "yonks" in this context. It has been too many years since I heard the word "yonks". Must be south Manchester - likely close to Stockport - yonks draws a blank look outside that locale.

Loads of yonks down in Suffolk!

"yonks" is a phrase you still hear in use a lot here in Shropshire.

I grew up in the Potteries where yonks was also used. Now I live in Suffolk so I must be an adopted Suffolk Yonk after 40 years! Mind you true Suffolk yonks (born in Suffolk) won't ever truly accept me as a proper Suffolk yonk!

5 weeks is a little unusual, but not unheard of.

When I was at Plusnet a fibre install would normally be about 3 weeks away, with the odd one or two at 4 weeks.

It, as has been said, likely down to availability of engineers on the area.

Is there a department in BT who could answer regarding the involvement of a time scale
of YONKS.
Have been unable to find a Dictionary definition of the word YONKS.
Interested to hear from BT as to their interpretation of YONKS.
If my order is ( to my mind) is taking an excessive delay.
I believe I should be told about Yonks.
Possibly made a mistake and should have consulted other ISPs regarding their policy regarding YONKS.
