Yes have just had a look at there website, 16.40 for line rental plus 17 quid for sky connect! extortionate prices. and yes im pretty confident that sky connect a few years back had a 40gb download limit as thats one of the reasons i switched to bt, 40gb is less than 1 weeks usage for me and the family now.

just typed in my phone number and post code and it appears they still only offer 40gb for sky connect, paste as follows

"The Sky Network is expanding into your area over the next six months. In the meantime, we can offer you Sky Broadband Connect with a monthly usage allowance of 40GB. Within three months, after the Sky Network rollout has completed, you'll be transferred to Sky Broadband Unlimited with a totally unlimited monthly usage allowance. You will be notified of the change by email and can contact Sky at that point if you would prefer to downgrade to Sky Broadband Lite.We are currently unable to offer Sky Fibre in your area, if you would like to be kept informed of when it will be available, you can register your interest here."
The Sky Broadband & Talk items available are shown below:

I think you said you have ordered the BT? You may as well stay with that for the year and change at the end. The original plan, except you will have a good place to swap to.

There's something dubious about them saying 40GB, where is it? The quote I gave is from the Legal section.

yes ive ordered it but no engineer visit till the 3rd of August and also paid line rental upfront so probably best to stay with bt for now.

Go to the sky website and click on shop broadband and phone, click on broadband unlimited, it asks to type in your phone number and postcode (if you want my own to test for yourself, let me know) . It then pops up with "The Sky Broadband item you've selected is not available in your area, however we can offer you the following:" which is sky connect, once you click accept it goes into further detail which i pasted in my previous post sorry i should have put it in quotes . i do find this astonishing, 17 quid for broadband for 40gb of data. there will be some people out there who haven't got a clue who are paying over the odds for this service. kind of like myself 4 years ago.

If you want two lines then go with a different ISP. That way if BT have a network issue\outage then your other ISP is unlikely to be affected. Never put your eggs in one basket.

Also, at the end of each contract you can then flip from one provider to another to get the best savings.

If you purchased a dual WAN router like a Draytek 2920 as well then you could load balance the lines and use auto failover in case one line fails for a period of time.

I don't think i've ever suffered an outage fortunately but theres no llu at my exchange so even if i was with another provider both would fail anyway right?

I'd need your phone number or another in your area. Mine would offer me LLU.

With the Legal and that being so far out of kilter, it would be very interesting what would happen to anyone going over 40GB. Though on a maximum 6Mbps downstream speed that could take a while.

im not sure what would happen, don't think i ever went over the 40gb mark out of fear for charges as i wasn't sure how much they where. but i guess a quick phone call to sky would answer that question most likely. Also just noticed that SSE everyday broadband have free unlimited broadband for 2 years (also available through bt wholesale) they any good? Plus only 12 quid for line rental!! compared to bt's 16
