Can't ping......

Recently installed a Virgin Media Superhub 2 as a WAP upstairs. It's working brilliantly, far better than my BT HH5 but there is one problem, I can't ping external addresses when connected to it via Ethernet or wifi.

Firewall is disabled etc, I can ping internal addresses, any idea what it could be?

Have you set the default gateway on the WAP to the IP address of your main router it is connected to?

DNS too - either to the other router (probably best, for accessing internal stuff in the other router) or to an Internet DNS service.

I assume your getting internet however? you can browse webpages? Have you tried pinging an external IP address?

Try pinging 216.58.208.67 (google uk).

I can ping the google IP but not the google URL.

Just tried using googles public DNS settings on my laptop and it's working now.

are you using the superhub as a DHCP server? You should only have 1 in the house, e.g. your main router.

Yes, I thought it was the DNS. Check your DNS settings on the router.

Try setting your DNS Address to 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4 they are both Googles Public DNS Servers.

We use 4 DNS Servers (Googles, Our Own, BT Primary, BT Secondary) just in case one goes down.
