There was another 3 engineers at our Splitter Node today disconnecting all 100+ fibres and re-splicing them in their correct trays smile
Was told the engineers are due to arrive some time next week, so I am crossing my fingers LOL.
Now that does sound as if there's some progress at long last. I've always found it reassuring to actually see work being done rather than rely on what some distant person is telling me. In my case it was seeing the two guys breaking into our EO cable and diverting it via our new AIO cab. The downside being the footway chamber chosen for the joints, rather than it being one closer to the cab and the development, it has added 150m or more to the new D side. I was however impressed that the work was done without disrupting the phone lines or causing net connections to drop.
It's been quite a long haul for both of us and with luck and a fair wind I should have my FTTC connection sometime on Friday. I hope that you are similarly fortunate with the next couple of weeks. How I'd love a real fibre connection. I can't honestly see there being sufficient demand for our getting G.Fast once it starts to roll out in any scale but I can at least hope!
Yup, well our FTTP Order was suppose to of gone live on the 26 August but due to issues at our Splitter Node this didn't happen, now that work seems to of been done (i.e. engineers there for several hours, well approx. 4 to 6 or so hours) re-slicing all the fibres etc, so I am hoping its all go now due to the only issue was our splitter node.
What's the et we now get told there is an issue at the exchange LOL.
But yeah, we are (several homes) hoping this is it now
G.Fast might not do much for you due to you are that close to your fibre-twin, G.Fast is if I understand it correctly is more for people that are further away from their cabinet, granted it "may" help if you wanted the faster speeds in the ball park of +600Mbps but not too sure of the actual price bracket of it to make it worth while.
I know our 300:20 is about £50 pm of which is split up between the 5 of us here in our home, so its not that bad (a tenner each), I am hoping to get a "little" discount due to all the faffing about they put us through over the last 4.5 years, there is no harm in asking.
