Getting back a potentially lost number

[link to this post]

A quick ask for help! Trying to help out a relative who unfortunately has been cut off and has lost the number they had - (they were out of the country and hadn't realised...don't ask!)...

Do the numbers go back into the "free" pool immediately - and is there anyone/any company in particular that might be able to re-instate (if nobody else has grabbed it - it currently rings as unobtainable) - with a view to getting landline and broadband from scratch again...?

Thanks!

You might have some joy if you go very high up in the organisation that provided their telephone service. It worked for me once with the CEO of BT (and that was for a fairly elderly relative as well). The number should not be re-allocated for six months.

Thank you smile

The six month re-allocation sounds positive.

I'll pass on the information. They've complicated the situation themselves by being with The Post Office as the supplier, who have turned out to not be that useful (but I get both sides of the silly situation!)
