Business Change

[link to this post]

Hi all,

I currently do some work with a small business (2 people) that run out of a small office. We currently have OneCom for phone and broadband with 28 months left on the contract.

We're shortly to be removed from the office we are using.

The building we are moving into has one other user (2 people). They've two lines coming into the building - one for the alarm and the other for their phone and broadband line (fibre line which is quick).

The room in the building we are moving into does not currently have any line and the wireless connection doesn't currently reach to that room. They are already exploring putting in wifi for the whole of the building.

We want to get an understanding of options for our broadband connection (the phone we use is over the internet anyway).

What options are there:

1. Put in a new and separate phone line into the room we will be using which will be a cost and use that for our broadband.

2. Put in a wifi connection throughout the building and share the existing line coming into the building. There is however a £1,000 termination fee apparently from OneCom.

3. Any other option???

Many thanks for your ideas!

Run an ethernet cable from the current router to your office (IF they are happy to share) and put a wireless access point or ethernet switch on the end of it in your office ?

Thanks - that's helpful.

I guess the issue is about the £1,000 termination fee - not sure we can get around this?

If you have a contract that states termination fees then you are likely bound to them, especially as it is business rather than residential.

If you want to avoid the £1000 then it is likely your only option would be to move the line and keep using it.
