Cannot find the right Ofcom page, but early termination charges are not meant to X months times the standard monthly charge, but are meant to reflect the costs of you leaving early i.e. be closer to the wholesale cost of the service that a provider may be obligated to pay if you leave early.

This is a great outcome for the consumer if that�s the dealio. My job used to specialise in telecom so remember the pain this would cause for a small minority of customers who were for whatever reason needing to end contracts early. For the last few years I�ve been shifted to utilities (who would have thought it�s more complicated than telecom) so really pleased to see there has been movement here. It certainly wouldn�t have been something that would ever have got wings if suggested by my team within the clients I worked on behalf.

It has been a requirement of ISPs for several years, with an enforcement and fine system in place from June 2017 until September this year, when they seem to have concluded all big ones are complying reasonably. Like MrSaffron, I can't quickly find the original edict.

I'm fairly sure BT Consumer have similar to Plusnet but maybe not as good.

I don't know if any such terms are in place on Business products. Many T & Cs are different for those. Businesses are supposed to know what they are entering into on contracts. Not reading the small print because it is too complicated is not an option.
