Our name changed from Royal Dutch Shell plc to Shell plc in January 2022. We are currently updating the content of this site to reflect that change.

All to do with moving their head office to London and getting rid of their A and B type shares.

Unilever did something similar - tho never had the 'Royal Dutch' part.

Consolidating in London gives both tax and liability benefits and protects from hostile takeovers to a better extent.
