It's not a soft switch: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/power-supply-specifica...

I thought soft switches were around before the 266Mhz CPUs came about - that suggests my memory is getting pretty ropey...

But that should make replacing the switch a pretty simple matter.

Not a soft switch, dangerous 240 volt, ok 220 volts power running through it. One good thing about the AT psu is that you knew it was off when you switched it off. I woke up early this morning to take some pain killers and heard the low rumbing sound of my computer, for some reason it have switch itself back on.

If it is the switch it is a solder job, i will get another mate to do that as I can't do it now.
I will have to have a good look at it or get my mate to have a look at it. the problem is things have been so busy in the studio for the last few weeks that this machine have been put out of mind until recently.

Never realised they may have spade connections, i thought they would be soldered with those sort of voltages. that is a interesting page.

I can't even remember what board is in it, I think it is a gigabyte, got 2GB of ram, which is a fair bit for that time, He have got all the SDram I had just in case something goes belly up with the ram.
He even got a old P4 machine which is not in use that have Rambus memory, now that stuff was suppose to be the replacement for SDram but it cost too much and DDR came in which was cheaper.

I have to reinstall Windows 98 on it at some point anyway, got a few problems that I could not solve when I mucked about with it before the switch went. .

i was saying to my mate last week that my phone got more processing power that the computer have got, scary really how things have come along.

Only for someone that has the skill.

The switch could be bypassed and either switched at the mains socket, or an inline switch

fitted in the mains lead.
