I thought soft switches were around before the 266Mhz CPUs came about - that suggests my memory is getting pretty ropey...
But that should make replacing the switch a pretty simple matter.
I can't even remember what board is in it, I think it is a gigabyte, got 2GB of ram, which is a fair bit for that time, He have got all the SDram I had just in case something goes belly up with the ram.
He even got a old P4 machine which is not in use that have Rambus memory, now that stuff was suppose to be the replacement for SDram but it cost too much and DDR came in which was cheaper.
I have to reinstall Windows 98 on it at some point anyway, got a few problems that I could not solve when I mucked about with it before the switch went. .
i was saying to my mate last week that my phone got more processing power that the computer have got, scary really how things have come along.
