Hello - just signed up with IDNet

[link to this post]

Hello Everyone,

After being with e7even broadband, I have been very cautious about who to sign up with. I've researched quite a few forums for broadband and the IDNET users seem to be very happy bunnies!

I've come to rely on the adslguide as it was the only reliable place to find out what was happening during the e7even fiasco.

Feel quite excited now I've finally made the decision and actually done it!! Regards, Moneypennie

Welcome Moneypennie

It's been a tumultuous couple of weeks in here what with ping spikes, routing issues and such. But as of yesterday I believe things had begun to calm down and even out a little [Having said that I see Avenger's pings are off skyward again :0( ]

I don't think you've made a mistake coming over. Good choice !

Hi Scott, thank you for your welcome! Being a techo nincompoop, I am blissfully unaware of what 'pings' are and hope that just surfing via google and emailing will not need such advanced tech stuff! Although I will definitely know where to come to if I need any help.

Lovely day here in the Lake District. Best regards, Moneypennie.

You cherish that ignorance Moneypennie...many's the time I wonder what I'm doing mucking about with these things !

Just FYI --> Ping

You see... ! This is how it starts !!! It's worse than crack...first it's "what's a 'ping' "...then it's "how do I change my RWIN ? " and a few years down the line you're hocking your granny's falsers for a Core 2 Duo, a pair of matched 1Gb Dimms for your machine and that lit up Seagate SATA disc

I'll go now before the plod arrives :P

Welcome aboard. As a fellow escapee from the E7even disaster area this will seem like bliss in comparison.

Surfing happily with IDNet.

Welcome aboard. I have followed the unfolding e7even broadband fiasco.
I myself was with BT Openworld until against my wishes they handed over all our personal details to Yahoo dot com. Despite two telephone calls in response to an online query, which categorically assured me that they would not pass on user details without permission. I resisted being migrated to BT Yahoo until the last, until I was 'forced' to 'migrate' from BTO to BTY. I quickly accessed my profiles & ticked the box which shielded my details from the 'Yahoo People' database & potential spammers & the rest of the 'Dark Side'. I then migrated to Plusnet at a cost in excess of

Thank you, BallyG. I received a letter from my MP recently, in further response to the letter many of us sent at the end of the e7even debacle and he stated that Ofcom are going to make changes regarding MACs, so perhaps something good will come out of it after all.

It feels great to be with a reputable ISP. Kind regards, Moneypennie.

Hello Vigilant1, Sounds as if you have not had a great time with your ISPs either! I am really looking forward to a non-eventful time with IDNet; just continuous connection and no hassle. Bliss! Kind regards, Moneypennie.

Welcome to the friendliest ISP in the country. Ignore these ping warriors, they have to have something to complain about. you will not be dissappointed with your time here but be prepared for an email or phone call from one of the three muskateers (Simon. Tim and Miriam) They may contact you to make sure everything is OK, they're nice like that.

Welcome again.

BT Openworld were quite reasonable until someone from the nefarious Yahoo dot com (USA), not Yahoo dot co dot UK 'offered' to provide 'content' & a yahoo browser that was apparently just like paint drying & a 'controlled environment' just like the dreaded Awful Online, (AOL). Why are US of Americans now a race of control freaks?
The BT people fell for it & the e-mail collapsed until BT dicovered that Yahoo were prioritising Yahoo mail, whilst holding up BT mail. You may have come across similar conduct by US of American firms recently. They really have got to learn that such conduct is unacceptable but do seem to have a very slow learning curve, coupled with their often natural arrogance, which does rather make things difficult at times.
