It does, though the effect is beginning to die away now. I usually say "Bean, as in Rowan Atkinson" when asked for my surname. I either get a blank or a chuckle in return, though sometimes I do get things addressed to Rowan Atkinson!
I was a school governor when the series was at its peak, the kids
loved the name.
Of course, it's not a new phenomenon, when I was a kid there was a TV programme called Billy Bean, and I've been called most things from baked to runner. It's worse for my sister, though, she's a has-Bean since she married.
