Sluggish?

Anybody else suffering sluggish speeds today? I'm down from a healthy 7-6.5 mbps to 5 mbps. Logging off IDNet (not disconnected from DSL), waiting a while and logging back on to the service has no helped. Pings are normal at arount 40-42 ms.

Things are fine here. Whereabouts are you?

A Liverpool exchange. No reported issues. Things have improved since my morning post. Downloads are 7-5 mbps. Rather "bouncy".

You're right, there don't appear to be any reported issues, so all I can suggest is contacting support if things are no better tomorrow.

I'd only contact support if speeds become a matter of concern. My last download was just above 7 mbps-- so I can't complain. I'll run a few obvious diagnstics if speeds are as irregulatr tomorrow.

Perhaps it's all those folks who have left their online tax returns until the last minute

You're not alone, of course. It never seems to work when you need it. The closest results in my tests have come from the Maidenhead server at speedtest.net.

I don't think I've ever know the BT Tester quite this "busy" and it's the only one BT will accept as diagnostic if there is a speed issue. Speedtest.net and Namesco testers are usually fairly accurate compared to my "real" downloads. Both give resultsof circa 7 mbps. Things seems to be getting steadier for me but the BT tester is a menace.

I've just recently moved back to Idnet and I'm getting 12.59/0.94Mbps on Speedtest.net to the closest location. This has stayed consistent since day one and I'm south of London.
