I had a problem with single thread speed initially at idnet but that was soon sorted by them changing the backhaul I was on,I found that any issue was dealt with very quickly and if it was within their power, ie not caused by something they had no control over(like say the weather!) to fix they did very quickly
Zen would swap backhaul for their own customers but that seems to have stopped, and when Zen stopped allowing people to leave their own backhaul network, it appears IDNet followed suit and so I assume everything IDNet do for broadband is via Zen Wholesale, so now they can't swap people either. Certainly in my case I can't change backhaul suppliers. Also notice once upon a time IDNet would jump into this forum and say things like 'We want our customers completely satisfied, give us a ring and we can change backhaul'. Now they seem silent on the subject.
Best thing would be change your supplier,if I was so unhappy with the service after going through their fault finding/fixing process and it turns out that they are unable to fix things that is what I would do,don’t talk talk or BT offer the service you require both would get round the zen issue?
Single thread being slow is usually only an issue if you’re doing lots of downloading, most folk wouldn’t even notice it for “normal internet use”
Must admit being surprised at what you say is idnets response nowadays to your issue as like I said their support was the very best I have used

I was outright told by IDNet support last year that Zen were not used by them for FTTP when I was having single threaded issues as I did ask to be moved to BTW. To my knowledge this isn't accurate and it does now seem to be the case that if you are on Zen you are stuck there.

I do realise that’s”things change” but even when I used them and knew the service and support was extremely good there were folk who moaned about it,if you had had a meal at a restaurant and found it unacceptable would you keep going back and complain in forums about it or would you eat somewhere else?
My point is don’t stay with a supplier, any supplier not just idnet, that you are unhappy with, moaning on a forum is very unlikely to improve your issue, moving probably can

I too have benefitted from IDNet being able to swap out backhaul providers and they have moved me from TTBw to Zen to BTw in a successful effort to resolve a single thread speed issue.
I don't know whether things have fundamentally changed or whether they have more restrictions around FTTP, which could be down to a lack of alternatives on one hand or contractual tie in with Zen on the other.

I doubt very much that any contract that tied a company to a service that was flawed in the way Zens backhaul seems to be would be enforceable if Idnet are sticking with it "no matter what" then its prob more down to the cost compared to alternatives, but who really knows the reason of them sticking with it?
What does need to be realised is that nothing can ever be guaranteed to work 100% for !00% of the time, tech has and will always have the odd issues, even the best most expensive and most researched sometimes goes wrong

Don't forget for most of us we are locked in for a year, so that is all you can do unless you can somehow get out of the contract.
Still my year is almost up and I'm off elsewhere, hopefully that will work out okay.

That is the problem as I researched IDNet, knew they often use Zen backhaul but found posts in this very forum from IDNet themselves saying get in touch we will swap you over to a different backhaul supplier, so wasn't too concerned. Those posts however are from a couple of years ago, so clearly that is now what they do now.
Things do change, what they did for you some time ago is clearly not what they are doing any more.
Caveat emptor.
