Only the update for 10.5.6 shows for my MacBook. That is already done, with the iMac for when I get home tonight.

In her case probably.

Notice she has not been heard from since I goated her into doing the update. I am sure the fire service is already on standby.

I can't be bothered- I just run software update and let the machines get on with it .

Two restarts but all in all quite painless.

That 190MB download translated to over 7GB when Time Machine got hold of it

edit- OK, maybe 4GB. I'd forgotten a major tidy-up of the iTunes library

I wonder - and now I'm asking something very very dangerous I know

has anyone else noticed a change on Shutdown ?

Remember , those of you who actually do Shut Down , the dialogue box which says

" Are you sure you want to shut down now ?
If you do nothing now the system will automatically shut down in ........ "

Now fill in that gap please - I want to see if other machines say what my MacBook now says
