Strange mouseclick problem

[link to this post]

The mouse on my powerbook doesn't click ( cursor moving ok ) No , it's not an ( obvious ) hardware problem as an external mouse has the same problem. Using keys, I 've tried repairing permissions, taking out battery, pram , nothing seems to work.
Any suggestions what it might be ?

Try resetting your mouse preferences in your system preferences.

Yes, the mouseclick option is OFF

Unfortunately i cannot find any keystroke to select the button, most actions change the input in the search section on the top

Someone wiser and better than I will have to answer this one. Generally, from System Preferences I can set or reset the mouse to features I want. Good luck!

Follow the procedure here to turn mousekeys on. Then you can do what you like!

I can't get the full keyboard function ( Ctrl F1, supposedly , it only changes the brightness )

The keyboard panel has ^F1 ticked for keyboard access , but shift6 F1 doesn't work either

One possibly pertinent question .

You say you are using a Power Book - that's OK - but which OS are you using ?

Sorry if that didn't work for you. I followed the procedure that they outline - i.e. changing the preferences for "Universal Access" so that "Mouse Keys" was enabled - and, as the article said I was able to control the mouse pointer using the numeric keypad and the spacebar. (You would then be able to change the mouse preferences.) If that didn't work for you I don't know what else to suggest.

Edit: Sorry - this has ended up in the wrong place. Was meant to be a reply to the next post.

Doesn't work either. I'll have to call Applecare support unless I can find the relevant Unix commands
