... is available for OSX. Not sure how long it's been around for but it was news to me..

hmm. seems I'm about 4 months late. Oh well. ... how did that pass me by?

Well it seems to work after a very quick check... crowding my d/l allowance a bit this month, so full checks will have to wait for a bit .
What we need now is an option to play via Apple TV so I can watch on a 40" screen instead of 24"...

My broadband runs at about 6.6Mbps and so (as agreed by the BBC iPlayer speed tester) is fast enough to watch the HD content.
However, when I do, it's a bit choppy (and there's a lip sync issue too).
Could that be down to my graphics card? (128Mb NVidia GeForce 5200fx).
I'm thinking of upgrading to 512Mb or even 1Gb of video RAM. Would this help?

I saw lip sync errors when playing in the default screen size, but it was fine when I went to full screen.
Video is NVidia GeForce 7300 GT with 128MB, ie bog-standard in the iMac 24"

Same seems to happen on the Macbook, but I'm on my g/f's connection for the next few days- TalkTalk, and it's not fast enough for HD streaming
Video is Macbook standard- NVidia GeForce 9400M with 256MB.

Don't waste your time trying it on a PPC Mac Mini.

It certainly needs some power... cpu goes to around 150+% on the Macbook

150%! Your cpu usage meters work differently to mine. Even my dual-core Linux machines don't claim to be able to use 150% of the available processor power.
|
|
|
Seems to be a quirk of OS X, the dual-core machines go to 200% and (I assume) the 4-core ones to 400% etc... highest I've ever seen a single app reach is about 192% (Handbrake, with the system code taking the rest).
FWIW, I think it's daft too
