v4.0.2 works OK on my 8 GByte iPhone 3G. The integrated mail inbox alone is worth updating for. I'll wait a bit, I think before jumping to the iPhone 4.

It's almost like the OS was made to run bad on the 3G to get people to upgrade.

I was holding out for the iPhone 4 in white but iOS4 rendered my 3G unusable despite a restore and removal of nearly all apps. So yesterday I bought the new one.

What do people think of FaceTime? I've always wanted it but I'm not sure I like the distortion, my face looks longer and fatter

Works fine on mine as well. No noticeable performance degradation. Backup and upgrade from V 4.0.1 took just under 10 minutes.

As others have suggested I took a look at an iPhone 4. Granted it looks and feels nice but I do not think it is for me. My 3G offers me all I need in the way of apps, phone calls and internet access. If I want to take pictures and HD video I use my 21.5 mpxl DSLR.

iPhone 4 is great, the screen is great, it's fast and the camera is great.

I have an SLR too, but it's bulky and heavy, plus concert venue security don't always like it. My SLR doesn't do video either.

The camera in the iPhone 4 is four times as sensitive as that in previous iPhones. Low noise levels and the noise is luminance noise, so looks like film grain.
