How Send eMail when Network Provides No SMTP?

I want to send emails from my ISP's email addy when away from home/WiFi on my O2 networked mobile using its email client.

I found I can't cuz:

Since O2 sold its home BB to Sky and ceased providing mailboxes to all & sundry, it no longer provides an SMTP server to its mobile custs.
My ISP doesn't allow its SMTP to be used outside its own network and doesn't provide a non-port 25 authenticated SMTP.

I found I could send using Hotmail/Live or GMail SMTPs but my email ends up as coming From: my corresponding email a/c that I have with them. They replaced my own ISP email addy with the ones I have with them in the process of sending.

Is there any way to do this? Or am I forced to use webmail or sending SMSs?

Two choices:
a) Buy your own domain name and find a provider to host your own email that provides authenticated POP/IMAP/SMTP services over SSL.

b) Use a service such as http://www.authsmtp.com/

The problem of B is that you can't set up an SPF record, so your emails may be more likely tagged as spam than other peoples.

Thanks. I was aware of them but have no wish to pay for the privilege. I would only send a few emails while away from home; would mostly wait till I got home.

Any free services?

Are you sure Orange doesn't offer authenticated SMTP on port 587?

In Gmail you can set the "from" address for emails. It is a while since I set mine but generally you setup the from address, google sends an email to that address to make sure you own it and then it adds it as a from in the gmail interface - and you can set it to the default.

gmail can be a bit clunky to find things like the settings but once found there is a lot you can do with it

Kicked Gmail out as they were targeting my email box relative to content received.
Unless this can be removed in settings.

Settings / General Tab / "Importance Signals for Ads" (Click 'here')
Takes you to ads settings.
Scroll down to opt out settings and select your options.
Also includes opt out options for YouTube.

Yes. Because if we aren't talking webmail then it is down to what the local email programme supports and most also allow you to set a from address.
