Re: Slow Rural Broadband - a possible solution

In reply to a post by MrSaffron:
This DLink device may have bigger antenna if the two chunky things are 4G rather than WiFi and prices are dropping as all the 4G stuff cost more when it first appeared on Amazon.

Hmm, they must be multi-mode antennas in the black case, as an antenna for LTE 800 is quite a lot different to a 2.4GHz WiFi. (just compare an O2/Vodafone mast in London with its short LTE antennas to a Three/EE mast).

I was thinking of one of these (more expensive):
http://solwise.co.uk/3g-routers-4g-lte-s4.htm

and possibly one of these mounted outside in the direction of the cell site:

Depends how good signal is indoors through the window. The 800mhz spectrum can travel further but is likely to congest quicker when everyone is on it. O2 only has 800, Vodafone and EE have both 800, and 2600, and EE and Three have 800, 1800, 2600. Really only 800 and 1800 are built yet.

We have recently started using the B593 router from Huawei, supplied by EE, without issue.

(We previously used the Wibe 3G router on 3)

Combined with an direction antenna, I am trying the 'Ulta Wideband MiMo' from Panorama it is hard to tell you are using a mobile connection.

I dealt directly with EE Business who supplied the connections and routers.
