This DLink device may have bigger antenna if the two chunky things are 4G rather than WiFi and prices are dropping as all the 4G stuff cost more when it first appeared on Amazon.
Hmm, they must be multi-mode antennas in the black case, as an antenna for LTE 800 is quite a lot different to a 2.4GHz WiFi. (just compare an O2/Vodafone mast in London with its short LTE antennas to a Three/EE mast).

Depends how good signal is indoors through the window. The 800mhz spectrum can travel further but is likely to congest quicker when everyone is on it. O2 only has 800, Vodafone and EE have both 800, and 2600, and EE and Three have 800, 1800, 2600. Really only 800 and 1800 are built yet.
