Nat type 3 Solved eventually.

So first of i would like to thank all those that contributed to this thread to help me solve the EE4G Nat issues that have plagued me for the past few months.

But most of all i would like to thank one person in particular who today spent the best part of 3 hours taking me through some possible solutions and fixes and shining that guided light.

The person in question is Baby_Frogmella who has been a breath of fresh air in helping me with his vast knowledge and finally this afternoon after quite a few different fixes we have established the Type 2 Nat that i required, i need to sort my own VPN out but Frog certainly sorted this problem out.

We actually running the Netgear Nighthawk through the EE4G router as a ,i may opt to just use a 4g netgear router instead of these 2 but its a pricey option at nearly £300 notes so i need to see some other benefits, I'm also worried that the Billion router £220 that we just sent back did not work for some reason or another .

But basically Frog solved the issue and i am extremely grateful for his time and patience and understanding of dealing with a Novice in this department.

Glad to hear you got it solved, how did you resolve it in the end? I have always avoided 4G dongles etc for this reason, it felt like a headache in the absence of buying extra gear.

Well at first i opted for a Billion Router with a sim card to do away with the EE4G supplied router, thinking this would have more settings in it to make changes i needed.

But try as i might before i got Frog involved we could not get this router to connect to the internet with all the EE settings provided.

Actually spent 60 minutes with Billion technical support who could not get it up and running.

So I'm my frustration i sent the router back to amazon and then involved Frog in my frustration, he asked about the Nighthawk Router i had previously with my normal fibre connection,he told me we could run that thorough the EE4G router as it had the appropriate settings.

So Saturday afternoon he spent 3 hours talking me through it, but we could not get the free trial VPN to connect and he sort of tested his own on my equipment and Bingo....We connected and when i ran a Playstation test no more Type 3 Nat.

So today i subscribed to my own VPN through AAISP and this evening Frog talked me through the changes we needed to make and here we are all happy

Connection is a little down in download speeds but i don't care, still getting 50 meg down and about 20 up which is plenty.

I have this exact same issue and would very much appreciate some help.

I never knew this would be an issue with games when I signed up to a EE 4G home router and to be honest I haven't experienced any issues for the last couple of years before playing red dead redemption online. Now I have constant disconnects and its very frustrating.

I'm hoping someone can point me through the solution here, I have read this and the original post

You will need to hook up a router to the EE supplied one which supports a L2TP VPN connection - most third party ones do. Sign up to AAISP's VPN service here and you'll be supplied with a username & password. If you need to buy a new router, then something like the Netgear R7800 would be a great choice. Then follow the instructions on p26-27 on how to setup a L2TP connection using your AAISP VPN credentials:

Hi, thanks for the prompt reply. I cant get the link to the nighthawk to open. I've been on the Netgear website but page 26/27 don't seem to be related. I checked the user manual for the R7800 but is it chapter 13?

I'm afraid I'm equally devoid of knowledge in this area as Timetodie was and it seems a little complicated. So.... the nighthawk connects to the EE via the Ethernet ports (i.e. output from EE to input of the nighthawk?

Will doing this system reduce my speeds? and if so is it possible to use still use the WiFi signal from the EE router for streaming etc?

Open the file in any PDF viewer and go to page 26 'specify an internet connection that uses a login'. Follow the instructions for a L2TP connection and enter the AAISP supplied u/name & pw in the corresponding fields in the router settings. Then simply click 'connect'.

AAISP's VPN service supports speeds of up to 100 Mbps and has a data cap of 1TB p/m, though you can upgrade this to 2TB on the business offering. You can continue to use the EE router for wifi etc.

Is it really as simple as it reads? Seems to be just obtain login details from AAISP then fill out then complete the relevant fields and click go.

The other threads seemed to indicate that it took 3 hours to get it set up and working?

Would the Nighthawk improve the signal strength of the EE LTE router around my home anyway as an additional benefit?

I think when setting up time2die�s D7800 there was some sort of issue with his aaisp details (can�t remember how exactly what) but when he entered my vpn details (I use vpn.ac) it worked straight away. You may need to change the default IP address of the R7800 to 192.168.2.1 if the EE router also uses 192.168.1.1 but otherwise it�s quite easy. The R7800 should be a lot better than the EE router for Wi-fi as it�s the #1 rated router for Wi-Fi range/coverage on smallnetbuilder.
