I understand yes. I have an older 4G phone contract SIM and no problem using it in my iPad or Netgear Aircard (MiFi thing).

Most networks dont care. Three used to but doesnt anymore I believe as Ofcom stepped in.

Its not the bands, its the amount of MHZ allocated to the network IN the bands.
5mhz of LTE is thin
10mhz of LTE is medium
20mhz of LTE is maximum

Three has 5mhz on Band 20 (at 800mhz) and 15mhz on Band 3 (at 1800mhz). These are general use. Then they have some 1400mhz for supplemental downlink (SDL), but this isn't widely deployed.

O2 has more than Three. Vodafone has a lot more, and EE massively more.
Three has a lot more than the others for 5G (at 3500mhz).

If you get a strong Vodafone or O2 signal, worth experimenting as Vodafone now has unlimited plans. (for 2G/3G/4G and 5G).

I am aware of this however you are correct it's a badly worded post of mine smile. My maximum speeds quoted were specifc to Three as that's the network the poster was refering to. I calculated based on their spectrum allowance in band 20 & 3.

Often free from the provider, certainly from Three. Try their websites.

Any newsagent. £1. Add £5 or £10 for the data.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk. Domains, site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Three 4G, tbb tests normally 35-45Mpbs down, 65Mbps off-peak, 9-24 up.

In my town, any Shell petrol station seems to have them hanging up, as does my local Tesco Express, usually on the end of an aisle. Note that EE limit speeds to 30 megabit/s on PAYG.
