Short Term mobile connection

[link to this post]

My sister recently moved house, and as it's a new build will only be able to get FTTP, but not until next month at the earliest.
Can anyone recommend a cheap provider of a 3/4G dongle that she can use until then? She won't require a huge amount of data.

Brian
From September 2001 on BTopenworld Home 500/Home 1000/Home 2000. Then ADSLMax on <n>ildram. Moved to ADSL2+ from ADSL24. I'm now with plusnet on FTTC since 28/05/2014 and loving it... I'm not saying who I work for. Any opinions expressed here are my own.

Worth looking at Giffgaff for the plan and buying a cheap 4G router or MiFi device.

Does she have data on her mobile? Depending on requirements it may be cheaper to tether to that and buy some extra data.

EDIT : Just to add you will need to check which mobile providers can provide the area as the options may be limited by coverage - Giffgaff use O2

Thanks for the thoughts. She's with a small provider for mobile, the name of which escapes me for the moment, but I don't think they allow tethering.
I'll check out GiffGaff for her,

I think Ofcom require tethering to be allowed these days.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk. Domains, site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Three 4G, tbb tests normally 35-45Mpbs down, 65Mbps off-peak, 9-24 up.

Giffgaff use O2
Both are 100% owned by Telefonica UK Ltd.
GiffGaff's 4G speeds can be significantly lower than the competition. Test before committing.

VirginMedia Cable M200 22/nov/19
7 years of FTTC VDSL BT then plusnet with sync from 55/12 to 46/5

I wouldnt bother with giffgaff as they dont have unlimited data regardless of what their advert says. Simplest option would be Smarty if you want the Three network as no contract, no credit check, and month to month. If three network is not very good in the area a company called Voxi do unlimited data over Vodafone.

Voxi is Vodafone btw, not just an MVNO that piggybacks on their network. In much the same way Smarty is Three...

Thanks for all the suggestions, however Openreach have been round at my sister's new house today, so she'll be able to get FTTP from BT without a delay, so this is no longer required.
