Wireless Notebook Card Won't Work

[link to this post]

Hi there. About 3 weeks ago my laptop started to freeze everytime I enabled my Intel Wireless card (built into the laptop). I tried to reinstall the software, update the software etc but was it would still either freeze the computer or give me an error message "device cannot start" in device manager.

I assumed the wireless card its self (not the software) was to blame so went out today to but another wireless card which you put into the pcmia slot. However, after I had installed the software for this (a belkin G+ mimo notebook card) and insterted the card, it simply doesn't work. I tried to add the card using "add new hardware" in the control panel but just get the same error message as with the internal wireless card, "device cannot start". Now when I go to the device manager, I see an exclamation mark next to both the internal Intel card and the Belkin one.

Any ideas as to what could be wrong? A few weeks ago my wireless network was fine!

Cheers.

Rich.

I'd be more inclined to think windows is angry and that neithe card is faulty. - You could try a system restore if you have it enabled, or moreover give it a good format + reinstall.

You may need the Windows "Wireless Zero Configuration" service to be running. Check the list of Windows Services to make sure that it is not disabled.
