Can i connect remotely to home

IMy ISP has given me an IP of say 87.192.xxx.xxx ( static IP )
can i connect to my home network over the internet wit something like remote desktop
or can i just use http:///87.192.xxx.xxx ?
how would i do this ?

yeah you can remote network/desktop in. You would need to configure all the firewalls and port/ip forwarding on the router/pc etc.

Basics as I've not done all of this but needed to do some for a web server.

configure router to redirect any external connections on port x (not sure whats needed) to internal ip address of computer(some allow port changes too). Open up said ports on firewalls and then in theory you should be able to remote desktop by using the wan ip (87.192.xxx.xxx) in the same way as using internal ips from within the network.

Alternatively you could just get something like logmein which would make it pretty easy and works over the net.

The short answer is - yes

How you do it very much depends on whether you use a modem or a router.
(and whether your ISP blocks the ports)

You could start by looking up VNC on google.
