BT Home Hub Problems

[link to this post]

have been using a Belkin router successfully with orange broadband for several months without problem

due to orange upgrade problems and llu servers swapped to bt broadband tuesday

set up home hub with not much problem but after about 10 minutes on some sites every page brings up the work offline and dial up box
I then need to untick work off line on he file menu before proceeding further

if I reboot the problem is resolved but comes back again very quickly

finding that if i try to login to my message board I have problems but if I visit another board on the same site I have no problem

if I bring up my web pages on my old orange website the problem is there too

yet I can move rounfd ebay without problems

have downloaded the microsoft update for problems with vista and wireless but to no effect

any ideas please

No ideas myself. Have a look through the BT forum and see if anyone there reports a similar problem.

I really have no idea on this, but perhaps you could give some more info to see if anyone can come up with something.
  • How are you connecting to the home hub?
  • And is it the same way as for your previous router?
  • What software did you have installed for the previous router?
  • What software did you install for the homehub?
  • How did you remove the software for the old router [if any]?

Assuming you are using Inferior Explorer: Go to Tools, Internet Options and select the 'Connections' tab. Make sure the option 'Never dial a connection' is selected. Removing any 'Dial-up and Virtual Private Network' settings is also an idea if the above doesn't work.

earlier this morning I rebooted and then had a windows problem preventing start up

suggested it might be new software added recently

tried a windows repair which didn't resolve then it asked me if I wanted to try and restart normally again
which it did

connected back and worked fine for 10 mins then problems started again

at that point I decided if the hub was going to cause windows it was better out and go back to the belkin router do uninstalled the hub and everything associated

the red light came up on the router on tueday when the line was switches and its still on now when I try to reconnect

don't have a clue how to reset

tried the bt help line yesterday pressed all the buttons and was then cut off twice

third time it connected to somebodies private line

had a month of problems with orange and this was supposed to solve things

here I am stuck on dial up and haven't a clue how to sort anything

could just sit and cry

should I reinstall the hub and try switching off the dial connection as suggested here

worried about the hub causing registry problems after this mornings efforts

or can I reset my belkin router

I don't believe there is any software with the hub.

As for the Belkin - with BT, I believe there is no login information required, so simply removing any login info should solve the connectivity to the net.

If you can get the Belkin to sync up, try using a wired connection, as it could easily be the wireless connection that is causing the issues with the BT Home Hub.

I don't know the Belkin, but most will have a WAN settings area. This is where all the details of your connection will be. Often, it will be a wizard type interface. Failing that, head over to Belkin Support and look for the manual (in the product selector, select Networking and then Routers and then select your model and you will be routed to the correct page with links to the documentation).
