Shall i change my router ?

Hi , just upgraded my dsl to the maxupto8 product. I havent had any problems with my current router ( Netgear814) before with the 2meg service. Would it be a good time to buy a newer model or doesnt it really matter ?

With the upgrade just happening today, i'am at the Pre eco stage, what is that exactly ? Also is there a procedure that i can do my end that would help me in the long run ?
