Different router types

[link to this post]

I am thinking of buying a new router, mainly because my Orange Livebox is a load of rubbish.
The trouble is, I don't understand the different types of ADSL router available - Wireless, Wireless G, Wireless N, Wireless MiMO - I don't know what any of this means and so I don't know if I should just buy a chepo bog standard one or if I should go for N, G, whatever.

Recommend me a router (and if you can explain what the types of routers are - a bonus!!)

I use an iMac with built in Airpot.

Cheers

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEEE_802.11 for a description of the various speeds.

g is fairly standard and well supported and is 54Mbps (about 20Mbs usable) so is fast enough to keep up with current ADSL speeds.

If you don't have any special requirements I'd go for the cheapest router with decent reviews.
