How do you know when your Speed is being Capped

[link to this post]

How is tt possible to find out if your line is being capped/Throttled at the Exchange, I feel this is happening to me for some unknown reason. I did a Test on speedtester.bt.com and the results are

Download speed achieved during the test was - 2721 kbps

Your DSL Connection Rate : 7776 kbps (Down-Stream)

IP Profile for your Line is - 3000 kbps

Look at your profile - 3000kbps. Look at your speed 2721kbps. You are not being throttled.

Your profile was lowered (by BT) in response to a low sync event. It'll take up to a week to recover (provided you don't have another low sync event).

But what about the DSL Connection Rate, from the web site you gave in your post, the dsl speed of 7392 - 7967 should give a download speed of 6.5 Mbps, you state you must wait a week for the speed to return but I have been waiting for nearly 30 days and nothing has changed in that time.

The system can sometimes get stuck

BUT it is possible for it to stay at the current level, if say once every couple of days your modem is disconnecting and reconnecting at a lower speed e.g. 3800Kbps.

Run something like RouterStats to monitor your line http://www.vwlowen.co.uk/internet/files.htm
