BT Home Hub

[link to this post]

I have managed to acquire an old, unneeded BT Home Hub V2.0 Type A with matching Hub Phone.

I was wondering what could be done with it.

I've had a look at DDwrt and OpenWRT and neither appear to support the home hub, and I am reluctant to start soldering on the main board as I do not have a fine point soldering iron.

So short of soldering what can I do with the home hub?

Can I turn it into something useful?

As far as I'm aware, it will work with plusnet "out of the box"

I already have a draytek router that works with my plusnet connection, and the previous owner of the homehub is with talk talk.

I've promised him that if I can turn it into something worthwhile (like a wireless bridge) he can have it back. I'm mostly after the chance to play.

eBay it, you'll get 10-15 beer tokens to buy something useful. smile

Strictly speaking it is still the property of the previous owner. I just have permission to play with it, and possibly royally screw it up. I can get rid of it if I turn it into a curvy black plastic brick.

about the only "useful" thing is to turn it into an access point, google "jarviser" for one of the better sources of info.
