In reply to a post by eckiedoo:
I have not checked; but Channel 13 is close to the top end of the band, so there may be some limiting aspect coming in to play.
iirc, channel 13 isn't a "standard" channel in the UK so some devices may not support it, but there shouldn't be any other problem.
As others have suggested previously, try Channel 11 or lower; or Auto.
I've usually found that Auto is terrible, even when it chooses the same channel that I set manually crazy. I've assumed it's something related to the scanning.

The reason I asked is that I think I've seen somewhere that if one of the devices uses a g connection it drops back to g for all connections. Unfortunately in the router settings there isn't a n only option to prove that.

After a bit of researching on the web I opted for the Asus RT-N66U. Have to say I'm made up with my purchase.

Had no issues setting it up (initially wired), apart from a strange issue with Plusnet that resulted in my service being re-provisioned down to 40/10. Not sure why but it was quickly sorted back to 80/20.

Now getting over 60MB download (wireless) smile Never got anywhere near those speeds with the TG582n.

Many thanks again for the recommendations and the other replies.
