Makes me wonder if they try and spin this as a "perk" and not core part of their service. I disagree as I only use a domain for the sole purpose of email. Virgin Media pulled this stunt when they pulled free snapfish prints and I think virus checking, but at least for them it's clear that they are extras and not the core product. I would argue that email is a core part of their domain proudct.
Looks like the new company who took them over just a couple of days ago are already trying to ruin them.

Can you just up-sticks and move your domain to another hosting company?

You could, but then you would lose what you paid up-front for it.

Ah, I missed that.

I like their pants website: https://your.online/
Especially the sample code:

4 | def possibilities():
print("Looking for more possibilities!") possibilities()
possibilities () |
RecursionError: maximum recursion depth exceeded while calling a Python object

That defeats the point of purchasing your own domain. Not necessarily. I use 123-reg email forwarding. An email sent to my domain name email address is forwarded to other emails servers where I can see them using Thunderbird.

Can you just up-sticks and move your domain to another hosting company? They all seem to be charging more these days, up to last year I was paying my domain provider around £17 for a few email accounts but that has now risen to £75 because they claim they have added some extra features.

You can’t send as your domain name email address in Hotmail nor Gmail, so not a great deal of use forwarding to those services.
Although that’s not my real concern, my concern is a company selling something where you pay up front and them they reneging on the contract.

What a set of amateurs 😊. Well, even though it’ll cost me more taking them to small claims court than it cost for the domain, I will be out of principle if they don’t provide what I paid for.

I don't know about Hotmail, but you certainly can with Gmail. You add external addresses to your Gmail account, and then send E-mail as any of those addresses.
Settings > All Settings > Accounts and Import: Send Mail As.
It Works For Me™.
(The process of adding a new address includes verifying that you own that address)
