So today was Day 1 of internal install. We now have splice tray / patch panel installed in the cabinet. The external purple blown fibre tube (BFT) has been run in from the node in the street, via a 'sausage' and joined to an internal BFT going to the patch panel. A 12-fibre blown bundle has been installed from the patch panel to the node in the street - initially tried a manual push from the street, but later installed the fibre bundle from the cabinet end out to the street. Much easier.

The NTE is here and ready to be installed.

Hopefully with some remaining splicing at the node in the street, and the installation and connection of the NTE the circuit and service should be good to go tomorrow.

External purple BFT being installed, existing Openreach box below

Working the fibre through from node in the street

I'll add some more photos once the instal is all done

This isn't your first rodeo with these types of install, what are your requirements for needing it and is this an addition to what you already have in the same property?

Just curious, no judgement smile smile smile smile

Not my first, probably not my last. Change of provider. No other physical alternatives other than ADSL

Cheers. Hope so too. Not the end of the world if it doesn’t complete tomorrow, but be good to close it out nonetheless.

From those photos it looks like the team doing the install is the same team as we had at work. My office switched from Colt to Vorboss a few weeks ago and it seems to be working pretty well. The 10Gb connection is somewhat excessive for an office of ~100, but I'm not complaining smile

Yeah they were a really good crew to work with. Super professional, courteous and listened and acted on all instructions and requests. Nothing was too much bother.

Interesting to see all the differences between an Openreach EAD tail install and this one. Puts Vorboss in a very good light.

All done and dusted by midday. They spliced through all 12 cores from the street chamber node and also the internal run at the splice tray/patch panel. All cores OTDR'd back along the full run to their POP - so if ever an additional core (or eleven!) needs to be lit it's all ready to go. Ethernet line tests took around 1.5 hours to run and satisfactorily complete. All green lights on the NTE following and handover document issued by 5pm.

Their CSM and QA manager came over personally to meet and greet. A really nice personal touch.

Today we made our routing changes and everything is humming nicely.

They look like they build on demand to an extent, still a good option if you can work with the lead times.
