LLU migration dates accurate?

[link to this post]

Hi
I signed up to Vivaciti's Surfwise LLU product (fed over talktalk llu) I had an email the other day from Surfwise stating my expected go live date was today - how accurate are these dates? Nothing seems to have happened yet, was just wondering how often these things run over.

Thanks

If you have had an email from surfwise with your broadband username and password then the dates do tend to be good but the migration itself can occur anytime during a 24 hour window.

Hi
Thanks for your reply - I was under the impression that 20CN to LLU required work at the exchange so assumed a working window of somthing like 8am -5pm - is this not the case?

I know that each time my service has been changed it's been during office hours , i suppose in some areas that could vary a bit though. may be it's case of if they can, they will always do them inside office hours

My surfwise migration took place a day after the date on their email. I think it depends how busy openreach are.

My migration to the same product happened the day after the date too (2nd march rather than 1st).
I looked at about 6am the next day and router was stilll connected to the previous ISP. When i looked again at 9:30am i had lost connection and put the login details in and was up and running.

I didn't get an email to say it was live until 5:35pm on the day it went live.

I think someone actually has to visit the exchange to connect you from BT equipment to Talk Talk equipment still so it probably won't happen until the morning now.

Got connected around 1pm yesterday.

Line stats:
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 15897 kbps 1022 kbps
Line Attenuation 24.5 db 14.9 db
Noise Margin 6.1 db 9.3 db

Was hoping for around 19000kbps seeing as my adsl1 stats were 21.5db attenuation and 8.1 snr downstream.

I would have expected more from that attenuation. You could try a different router or tweak down the SNR if the line is stable.

Wow.. if thats what you get with your line then mine wont be great at 40db att/8db SNR and a 6944 sync on ADSL1

Have to see what the ol' HGV2700 is up to - I still have my 585v6 too so I may try a comparison.

Roll on the 20th!

My service was activated yesterday (Umlimited Annex M) and the speeds were [censored] poor at first.
I changed the DNS drom Vivaciti's to Comodo's and the speed was about what I expected. I have changed the DNS back to default and everything was fine. Not sure if it's coincidence or not.

With regards to getting in touch with Vivaciti just now....

seems they are having a DDOS attack going on right now, so calling probably for the best.

TBH to both of you with poor speeds I wouldn't accept that. I have an automated tester that runs every hour with some small files. I haven't seen any slowdown apart from one blip the other day for a couple of test runs mid morning which cleared up itself. Calling is the best option as tickets only seem to get answered during office hours. Those sub 1 meg speeds are not acceptable. I'm on the O-bit network with TalkTalk tails. Dont know if we're comparing apples and pears here.

It depends if you know how to program batch files. Make a batch file, use an application called wget to download test files, I use Zen, BT and one from my Viva webspace. Wget is a command line program and you can set it to log download speeds etc to a file. Use Windows Scheduler to run the batch file once an hour. Review the log file once a day. I think there maybe a program that does all this for you, might have to creatively google to find it, cant for the life of me remember it's name.

Edit: I've remembered, JDs Speedtester, http://www.gmwsoftware.co.uk/ might be what you are looking for.

I was migrated this afternoon, apart from an issue resetting my MTU - BT software in my 2 wire HGV2700 has been infected with a glitch that wouldnt accept a new MTU - luckily I have several 2700s that are without the lastest software, so by the time I fired up the line it was 6 pm and have lost a meg of sync over what I had at 3 pm. currently I have a sync of 9959 Noise marging at 5.5 but attenutaion has risen over the week to 43.3 from 40.8.

Tomorrow lunch time I will restart the router and see where we sync.. hopefully it will be back at the 10061 I had earlier - or higher smile

I expect it behaves like Be Retail. They don't cap it while the DLM runs, which is 1-3 days. That is then switched off, (settings "fixed"), and the cap applied.

Well see below the LITE product is Not upto 24mbits and is capped at 12mbits so i don't see why you appear to think you have a issue with sync speed, as for having to ring enternet and use one of their agents log in credentials No you shouldn't need to do either really but if the product is sold as upto 12mbit and you are getting more , then surely this isnt a problem, more like a bonus to me if inp wasn't @ 2 it in theory would sync higher

Broadband Unlimited Lite is an Upto 12Mb product with up to 1.4Mb upload. This service has Unlimited data usage and no FUP! This package is a premium package with high stability and good average latency. Ideal for gaming, VPN, VOIP and general/high demand use.

The package can have options set to change interleaving to on or off, set the SNR (to as low as 3db if the line will maintain it) and change line profile to make this one of our most stable services we have.

Prices include VAT at current rate.

The issue was my throughput was 0.5Mbps but thankfully its been solved.

My sync was never an issue but thought it was funny them telling me stuff i already know.
I see, did they tell you why there was no throughput, or just sort it & tell you basically nothing, I would imagine it could of been down to the VLAN Be*cough o2 wholesale>>> into enta's network/data center not being set up properly or something enta's side

There was an issue effecting some of our customers speeds at just under a meg, would seem it was some issue with one of the gateways and our IPs, a router power down and up was solving the issue for most but as of this morning the issue was identified and resolved at last.
