Smallworld mail server

I've just been helping my parents move from OneTel dial-up to Smallworld broadband - they're already Smallworld customers so it was the easiest option. They wanted to keep their OneTel email account which I think should be fine - they were pay as you go OneTel customers so it's not as though they've had to close their account or anything like that. They use Outlook Express for email and were finding that once connected to Smallworld broadband they could receive email but not send it. I thought this was very strange and fiddled about with settings to no avail. I phoned Smallworld and they gave me their mail server details to put into OE - they don't work! The address is - mailserver.smallworld.mail.co.uk

I've tried pinging this address but the get a 'ping request could not find host...' error. Strangely enough, if I replace .co.uk I am able to ping but OE still won't send email.


Does anyone have the correct mail server address for Smallworld? I won't be in a position to contact them until the morning but would like to know the correct setting asap.

What error is OE giving you ? I would guess its a relay denied message.

I think you will find that their SMTP server is:
mailserver.smallworldmail.co.uk

they also have an SMTP server at:
MAIL.smallworldmedia.com

Adam - the message was that OE could not find the server.

4thenet - thanks for the address. They seem to work although we were prompted for a password. We tries the account password which did not work. It was not important as I've moved them onto hotmail so they won't have this problem again.
