Origin Broadband - wrong username/password

Noticed my Dad's Origin connection dropped out via the TBB monitor. Got my dad to log into the router and it was showing sync (rather a high value, 2.2, but with a quite low SNR - it is a long line), however it was unable to establish a PPP session, stating wrong username or password (Vigor 2820).

My Dad had already phoned Origin this morning, and they said there wasn't a problem, but they got stuck when trying to log into the router.

Anyone else seeing authentication issues with Origin ADSL?

The connection was working as well as it could up to about 0900 when it dropped out. Got my Dad to re-enter the username and password, just in case, but still no joy.

Does the vigor let you extend the PPPoE timeout?

However he phoned them again yesterday afternoon, after plugging in their supplied Asus router, and they have now changed his username - the format was @dsl.net (which used to break out via plus.net's network) to an @originbbit.vodafone.net one.

That suggests to me they moved this connection between providers. He is now reconnected, but apparently performance is rubbish. Line is syncing at a reasonable rate (~1.7), but very little works, which stinks of the usual overload vodafone network! At the moment he is using their router, although I'll talk him through putting the 2820 back in place in a week or so time.

That coupled with them over-billing all the time, they are turning out to be a bit rubbish!

Are Origin a Talk Talk reseller by any chance?
