Fibrus Installation

[link to this post]

Hello,

Fibrus are installing fibre in my area in Cumbria and I am trying to think about the best way to have it fitted. What do they install? Is there an external box which then has a fibre link to the ONT or does the fibre cable come directly from the the pole/duct to the ONT?

Thank you

Seeing as no one else is helping you chap…

Taken from https://fibrus.com/help-eero/installs/

On the day of your installation
An engineer will visit your property within the confirmed time slot we have given you to install the new line. Someone over the age of 18 (who can agree route and completion of install) will need to be home for the appointment slot as well as a few hours after in case your engineer arrives towards the end of the slot.

A cable that connects you to our Full Fibre network will be fitted on the outside of your property. A small hole will be drilled on the outside of your home to connect this cable to the powered wall mounted unit inside your home.

A wall mounted ONT will be installed in your home and connected to your router. The ONT and router will need to be close to each other. Your router will also need to be placed near a power socket.  Once connected, the engineer will test the connection using one of your devices.

Depending on your area, and underlying network build, we may utilize your existing Openreach fibre line and Optical Network Terminal (ONT). In these scenarios you will be notified in advance of a minimum 14 day lead time, that your service will be remotely activated and you will receive instruction on how to set up your eero Router(s) and other Fibrus equipment.

Just had Fibrus installed - Cumbria- only Fibre option.
Fibre was run in trunking up to house wall.
Splicing of external fibre was done in an external box and then through wall to ONT which was placed where I wanted it.
Told external Splicing box allows external fibre faults to be dealt with without needing access.
The eero routers work very well even though I am suspicious of this cloud based setup with no browser login.

The csp box helps in two ways, if theres an issue from the csp to the pole or underground it can be sorted with out anyone needing to be at home. but if theres an issue between the ont and the csp they can resplice a new fibre pig tail to the ont. Basically it reduces on field fix time (in theory)
