I am pleased to announce that from Thursday May 10th we will be offering our customers a geographical contact number foour support team. We feel that this will offer additional benefits to our customers who can take advantage of free minutes included in their phone packages.
We will continue to use the 0845 contact numbers alongside the new numbers and hope that this will ensure that it is even easier to contact our support centre.
The new support numbers are as follows:
Plusnet Support - 0114 2965198
PlusNet Business Support - 0114 2965182
PlusNet Faults - 0114 2965188
F9 Support - 0114 2965197
F9 Business Support - 0114 2965180
F9 Faults - 0114 2965186
Free-Online Support - 0114 2965199
Free-Online Business Support - 0114 2965179
Free-Online Faults - 0114 2965183
These numbers will be in operation from tomorrow morning and will be added to all contact us details on the portal.
As always, we value your feedback and comments and hope that you find the new contact numbers a helpful addition if you ever need to contact us.

Good news..... doesn't mean PN can keep people on the phone longer though
Another step in the right direction.

Not putting a dampener on it, but if you were that confident in your CS etc, a freephone number would have been something to shout about.
You're halfway there though, so praise when its due, Well done.

Wingoco, you clutch at straws and put an anti negative spin on everything... please explain what is not good about introduction of geographical number in parallel with 0845. Fire away I'm keen to see your incisive detailed logic at work for a change!

Paddy, my ISP has had geographic numbers for as long as I can remember. No big announcement, no look aren't we great. PN pride themselves as being 2 years ahead of the opposition
My ISP has never used premium rate phone numbers either. Instead of applauding every single thing PN do, why not be selective and retain some credibility

Good news. Is there any chance of having a SIP number so we can call for free?

But nobody was making a big fanfair about it. PN Have anounced the new number, someone paddy mentioned it was good news (which for customers it is) and he also said it was another step in the right direction i.e. indicating that they still have improvements to make.
Yes your ISP may have a geographic number (as does mine) but a lot of ISPs do not and some also have 0870 numbers and premium rate numbers. That does not alter the fact that moving to a geographic number will be a big benefit to some people especially with packages including free minutes more and more now.

If my memory serves me right, plusnet used to have a Geographical number .?
They then went onto 0845 numbers ..
|
|
|

Great im glad they have... its a good thing.. BUT.. you have not answered the question.
What was the need for the negative personal post? Whats the negative aspect, whats the downside... just another anti rant for the sake of it? your credibility really does suffer when you do that... motive becomes very transparent.... not linking facts to reality does do that. Lots of negatives with plusnet particularly in the past, less so these days but you choose to rant on a negative.. Seems someone posts positively you need to shoot it down, regardless of the facts.. shame on you...

Leave it guys.
In the context of this forum and this ISP it is good news for customers, end of.

Any chance of the Mods tagging the OP's login so that it comes with the ISP disclaimer on the bottom?
Only for the sake of clarity, of course.

Thanks for the reminder. I've just dropped the team an email asking for this to be done.

Every chance, but not with our current phone system and probably not at any time in the near future due to other priorities in the business. In the same time frame we also want to have a good look at real-time online chat based support and a couple of other food ideas.
This one was a nice easy quick win for us in a year when we have a very heavy improvement schedule (See our plans for 2007!) - I'd love to add more to the list, but to do so would mean dropping things which are just as impactful and important. I'm hoping we've nearly done enough to demonstrate what we are aiming to do in terms of making sure our customers find us the most helpful, knowledgeable and fast to respond support teams in the industry.

Hmmm how long till we get all you can eat broadband lol....
|
|

<ducks>
All you can eat can come back again just as soon as the wholesale costs allow!
All that needs to happen is for it to not to be the case that a customer can cost an ISP

my post was more of a play on words than a request... unlimited is a thing of the past...

I think a few other ISPs like Zen, Newnet and IDnet may justly lay claim to those attributes.

At some point maybe when the whole country is on fibre or mass wifi and you don't have to worry about bandwidth costs. ADSL2+ and 21CN first, then probably VDSL2 and FTTC and after that who knows.
|
|
|
That's probably true but I have no experience of those isps' and their support.
I read your post as you are saying plusnet can't justify being in the group...perhaps that is so, but they're not far away if my experience of support is a true reflection

Aye - Competition makes the world go round, and my life would be very dull were it not so!
I picked the word aim carefully there though - I'm not saying we are where we want to be. Yet.

I hear what you're saying Paddy. But one of the best is not our aim. We want to be the best and that is were we are aiming.

"I hear what you're saying Paddy. But one of the best is not our aim. We want to be the best and that is were we are aiming.

Being the best is a pointless aim, for you or any other ISP will never be the best.
Aim for as good as you can be.
People will class "best" in many ways, Fastest, CS support, Value for money, lowest price etc.
No one ISP can be all those

|
In reply to:
People will class "best" in many ways
Too true.
Any ISP that employs traffic shaping and rate limiting will never be the best in my opinion.
|
|
|
|
That will be most/all at some stage then....

|
|

We shall see...

Great to see we now have a 01 number to call on
Cheers Plusnet!

Are there going to be different number for Metronet, or does the one just go into a menu (not for me, but I know 3 home and 2 business users that I can think of and having just checked the Metronet website, see only one geographic). Thanks.
(I don't plan to call, as I don't have a MN account, but just wanted the facts in case I am asked... having seen another service aiming to answer calls in 30 seconds on a freephone number, giving an upstream well over 500 kbps, and all for under 25 quid, I can see some may be tempted away!)

LOL. When there's txtspk as well as full sentences, on the web in general, and these BBS articles aren't going to be online forever, it isn't top concern, I'd have thought.

Metronet's had a single 0114 number since support moved to Sheffield (before that it had an 020 number), there is then a menu to divert the calls to the appropriate people.
