Simple Request

[link to this post]

i contacted support the other day to simply ask why i couldnt see the option in the control panel to switch from a static to dynamic IP address. i got a reply asked me why i wanted to know if it was possable to change it and since i replied never heard back after about 3 or 4 days so i closed the ticket.

Can anyone tell me should it be possible to switch from static to dynamic or vise versa if someone wanted to. It is a bit bad to have to wait 3 days for a reply.

Depends what package you are on. Things like Value do not offer a static IP (even at a price).

Its described quite well here in their own help centre.

Hi pbaker27

Would you mind posting or PMing a ticket ID so I can take a look at this one?

Its unlikely I'll get back to the forum until tomorrow but will see what product your on and the response given in the ticket.

hi, thanks for your reply. I had closed this ticket off as i got no reply but the ticket number was 31743856.

My product im on is the Plus Net Unlimited which im sure when i read the info about it on said it come with a static ip which it has done but when you click on the static ip option on the control panel it doesnt show you the option of switching to a dynamic one if you want to. But from reading details on your help section says you can swtich between having a static or dynamic address.

hope this is off help and makes sense.

HI there.

It makes perfect sense. Dynamic IP now allocated and all seems to be working as it should.

I'll address the original ticket response internally when I get in on Monday.

Shout if you need us.

thank you and it seems to be working this end. If later on down the line i decide like to setup a mail server or anything will i have the option in the connection settings to change back to a static ip or will i have to contact support to get this changed.

Hi.

You're welcome.

Yes, unless an add static IP appears in your member centre then you'll have to raise a ticket or give us a ring to make the change.

ok thank you for your help, because at the moment it just says your using a dynamic address which is fine as i know you changed it for me but i thought when i first created the account it gave me the add option you was just on about but maybe i was wrong and it doesnt.

if i need one later on i will raise a ticket as suggested.
