FWIW... not just Plus.Net affected.

Contact in London rang earlier about her connection, on FreeUK.

Though there's little or no posting from Claranet / FreeUK users, seems they too are affected, and the person she spoke to was unable to give any timescale.

If it was another of the datacentres, it would have been some other ISPs affected, so for all thinking it's a rotten service, it's simply s*d's law that PN was affected this time, IMO.

A consultant I know just called me and asked if our Internet line here was up (we're on ClaraNet).

It is, apparantly a load of his clients on ClaraNet have been calling him to moan about their Internet being down!

Well, I know that it was impossible earlier today to reach their webmail, but tried it just a short time ago and it was back. So various bits may still be affected, certainly when I gave my friend a ring, she was still unable to get going (reaching the Radius servers is perhaps causing her difficulties right now, no problem with link to exchange, and the connection at 576/288 been as steady as a rock for the last 50+ days).

As I just posted in another thread, I think the questions that are likely to be relevant in this instance, will have more to do with the resiliency of Plusnet's network when such an incident occurs, rather than their ability to avoid it.
