Most ISPs will sign you up to MaxDSL right away (as would PlusNet if you were a new customer) so that is almost certainly the quickest route - especially as it should be a simple matter for you to get your MAC key out of PlusNet. If you stay with PlusNet, they have temporarily stopped LLU migrations and there's a long queue for MaxDSL upgrades. There's also a risk that they will re-start LLU migrations and transfer you to Tiscali LLU without notice -- and if you have read any of the PlusNet forums you will know that that isn't necessarily in your interest.

If you want to move to a LLU network, I would strongly advise moving to an ISP (other than Tiscali) who owns such a network rather than leases it from another network supplier. There's too much buck passing otherwise.

Move

I cannot see any prospect of Plusnet improving in the forseeable future. You should see what other ISPs are offering before locking yourself into Plusnet.

I'm not technically competent...

With respect, the problem may be with your local equipment. Nothing serious. Perhaps some tweaking. I suggest you psend a few hours reading up on it. Might save you some hassle.

When I joined PlusNet a couple of years ago I was very impressed with them. since then the support has degraded to the point that I truly believe they are the worst organisation that I have ever dealt with in any capacity whatsoever. Today they finally answered my demand that I be given a mac code to move away. I can't get away quick enough. Lots of organsiations go through bad spells but these people can go for weeks ignoring requests to help and both myself and a friend have now experienced leaving them phone messages (you can't actually talk to them any more) that are never answered. I have no hesitation in nominating PlusNet as the worst organisation in history. I would definitely recommend you to move.

Take this opportunity to get out, you admit yourself Plusnet have deteriorated, so bail out while you can.

Plusnet are going down the pan and get worse every month. Move on, you wont regret it.

Perhaps make a post on the residential forum here on AG stating your wants from an ISP, stating that you do not want Plusnet, but apart from a few die hards, nobody will recommend them anyway.

Best of luck.

Maybe OFCOM should put a stop to the leasing of LLU services from other ISPs now?

Go as quick as you can

[re: drm] [link to this post]

It's a no-brainer; go, there's much better out there. I moved and haven't regretted it for a minute.
It's no hassle moving, apart from maybe contacting PlusNet for a MAC.

No need to take that tone, I mean if this is an example of what happens when LLU operators allow other ISP's to lease they're services maybe OFCOM should put a stop to it now before more people suffer at the hands of LLU resellers.
