Major connectivity fault (Sunday 24th 2006)

[link to this post]

Is anyone else experiencing some sort of major connectivity problem at the moment? ADSLguide seems to be loading nice and fast, as does the PlusNet portal but other sites (BBC News, Google, YouTube, etc...) seem to not be responding, and a tracert to google is showing the following:

tracert www.google.com

Tracing route to www.l.google.com [66.249.85.104]

It was working "fine" a few minutes ago.

From Plusnet's Service Status:

In reply to:

23/09/06 @ 20:27 - Broadband packetloss / problems accessing certain websites - (Ref 35976) - NEW
We are currently investigating a problem whereby customers connected on the LLU /Tiscali platform and using the Cisco 7300 (pth-ag2) are having problems with packetloss and accessing certain websites, including www.bbc.co.uk and www.adslguide.org.uk. We apologise for the inconvenience caused and will provide an update on this issue as soon as possible.

In reply to:

20:55hrs - After investigation we have discovered that the MTU size was set incorrectly on thn-ag2 (not pth-ag2 as previously advised) - this has now been rectified. If you are experiencing this problem, please reboot your modem/router and normal connection speed / site access should be restored.

In reply to:

22:03hrs - We are still getting reports of this issue from some customers. We are continuing to investigate the problem and will keep you updated. Once again we apologise for any inconvenience caused.

In reply to:

23:50hrs - Our network engineers have stopped new conections to the affected server as we are still getting reports that some users are having trouble browsing to certain websites.

If you are having trouble browsing to some sites then you will need to disconnect and then re-connect again. This will get you connected to the other server which is not affected by this problem.
