Off to Pastures New

[link to this post]

Well I finally requested my MAC key and Plusnet supplied it in a reasonable time. Now it is off to pastures new, and hopefully to a faster, trouble free connection. Maybe it could be a case of out of the frying pan, but at this stage things seem promising.

Before I go it would be rude not to thank Kitz for her help and advice over the last two years or so, and many more of you who used to post here when it was a fun place to be. How times have changed.

Cheers all.

Good luck Lenseman and I echo your words about help from Kitz and others on this forum over the years.

Come back and give us the benefit of your experience with the move to your new ISP.

The first step appears to have gone OK. The guy who took the details was helpful and seemed to know what he was talking about, the phone was answered after about four rings with just one automatic diversion. Just got to wait for BT to do there bit and the delivery of the new router etc. One of my mates moved over last week and his connection is steady with a very noticeable increase in speed.
It's still early days yet, I can remember moving from my last ISP to Plusnet two and a bit years ago and it was an absolutely amazing change, Plusnet was indeed the mutts nuts at that time, unfortunately they seem to have paid the Vet a visit!

Well the new ISP went from hero to zero before I even go to them.
Despite giving my MAC code and having it accepted BT said there was a problem with a 'Tag' on my line. I thought the reason you gave your MAC to the new ISP was to enable this 'Tag' to be removed!

That would not have been so bad but Sky didn't realise there was a problem until I phoned to ask how my order was going on. The person I spoke to first said she couldn't find my order, after waiting twenty minutes she told me there was a problem and the order would have to be re submitted because there was a 'Tag' on the line. She was unable to give me any kind of time span or any other information regarding what was happening to my connection. I contacted another number and canceled.
At least it proves that Plusnet are not the only ones who can screw things up!

Unfortunately it looks like I am stuck with Plusnet for at least another month.
