Xbox Live

[link to this post]

Hi,

I changed to Zen on Tuesday and already noticed that speeds are better, p2p works as its meant to, and generally no problems at any time of day. However, when trying to chat to a friend over Xbox Live, the sound was choppy to the point of being unusable. We eventually just exchanged voice 'messages' instead.
I'm inclined to think this is a problem with plusnet (as that's who my friend is with) rather than Zen, but before he jumps ship, can anyone tell me if this is a common problem - and if so is it peak-time only, or at all times?

I hadn't tried it until last night, although online gaming with it was fine when I first got my Xbox360 back in March. That was before a lot of the traffic shaping was introduced though.

I'd get the friend to check their connection against a few other people with XBox and different providers before assumming it was a PN issue

Think a few of us on here left because of that (and decreasing DL limits)

I can't comment on your voice issues as don't have a Xbox

But I'm guessing your mate is a gamer, so I woulds wait a little while
with you new ISP if you think it's better than PN then suggest he/she changes.

Thanks Andrew, I have, and he is.
However, I thought that if it was a common/known issue (like the heavy p2p throttling) then others on the forum would be able to comment/confirm.

Also can you check your Xbox with other people.
As if your mate tests it and it's clear, it might not mean it's your side.
you both might test it and find its ok with other people,
just a one off issue between you and your mate.
