Migrating with MAC code, home phone?

[link to this post]

I'm considering leaving plusnet as i don't think they are the best value anymore.

I have a home phone package to go along with the broadband which i don't want to get rid of.

I just want to know that if i leave plusnet with a MAC code, will this affect my home phone service, or will this continue without change?

Do you pay line rental to Plusnet?

Looking at their website, I don't think they do phone alone packages; not many providers do, only BT and TalkTalk I found.

1999: Freeserve 44K Dial-Up => 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB => 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB => 2008: Orange 8 Meg BB

I would imagine that to migrate the broadband, the phone line would need to be returned to BT first.

I believe that there is no problem in retaining the phone package after migrating the broadband
However as the Plusnet forum search doesn't work I can't find where it was said

Hi

OK, i have just migrated from plus (home phone still with them) just keep on the ball and after migration update (or create) a ticket ensuring your account is downgraded to pay as you go free.

That presumably being a dialup service. Most of those with other ISPs require at least one dialup every 60 or 90 days. Which is simple, but easy to miss after a few months.

Plusnet don't - all you have to do is download your emails every month or so

I remember it.

It was very recent on this site, but I don't think it was in the Plusnet forum. Just at the moment I haven't managed to find it, but a Plusnet rep said migration out from a phone/broadband bundle was permissible whilst retaining the phone package.

Though a while back I established that if someone transferred their phone from BT to Plusnet only Plusnet broadband was allowed. (A change from earlier policy).

A work colleague of mine migrated his broadband to O2 several months ago. His phone line is still managed by PlusNet so they definitely can do it.
