Yes it will apply to DTW across the board, regardless of the product the customer is on.

It will apply to *all* products however at the moment it still blocks access completely. We'll be making some changes over the coming months to remedy this.

Why anyone should be surprised by the actions of this company is beyond me as they have extensive "previous", in fact they could be considered habitual offenders.

Treat them with the contempt they have show you and leave.

That is what I did several years ago,during the bad boy pipes saga,(even though it did not effect me) and I have never looked back.

Xilo provide me with 22Mb unrestricted and unmanaged for £17.61 and the support is like Zen used to be.

1) For Value - What is the situation now and when will the change be applied. What is the default if DTW is not activated?

2) For BBYW Option 1 - What is the situation now and when will the change be applied. What is the default if DTW is not activated?

3) For Legacy PayG - What is the situation now and when will the change be applied. What is the default if DTW is not activated?

Why not restrict everyone who goes over their limit and let them decide if they want to pay for something they may not use? Charging £5 for something that they may not use is usury.

Because some users prefer to have an uninterrupted service and simply pay for the extra usage. Typically these would be multi user customers where the account owner may be away when the limit is reached.

For me, the DTW restriction to 128K is best but YMMV.

1) Currently DTW will block access if you reach it. From April 12th it won't block, but will restrict to 128k. If DTW isn't active extra usage will be added in 2GB blocks until the billing date. From April 12th this will be blocks of 5GB.

On BBYW products you can also choose fixed usage, so you wouldn't use DTW, but wouldn't have any extra usage added (and would just pay your base price each month). If you choose this and reach the usage allowance you'd be restricted to 128k until your billing date.

And upgrading packages is not always easy. One of the connections I look after hit its limit last month (legacy BBYW1). There internet access was blocked with no explanation (and in fact he was going to buy a new router to fix it!). Managed to sort it out and put in for an upgrade to plusnet value. Only trouble is the upgrade didn't happen... I am waiting for it to be sorted by orbrey (Matt) as it can't be fixed at the moment (I think because it is between the billing and charging cycle).

So, even if you do want to upgrade it isn't necessarily easy. And the data watch has been in place for ages and for some time has been advertised that speeds would be reduced to 128kbps but only recently did I find out this doesn't happen but it instead blocks access completely. That actually means the package isn't meeting its specification and the 3 days downtime my uncle had were a fault that should never have happened.

Had he have had to pay £5 for going over it would have been ridiculous - the most he has ever used in a month is 2.46GB so would have paid £5 for .46GB (over £10 per GB).

And to argue with mandy's point. It is not £1 per GB. There will be pretty much no user who gets it for £1 per GB as this assumes you use 100% of the extra bandwidth. On average you would expect an account to only have 1 additional "block" per month (or they should upgrade) and therefore the average usage would be expected to be 2.5GB assuming normal distribution. Therefore on average it is £2 per GB not £1.

Can you answer why access has been blocked at all? The product was sold as being 128kbps if you reached your limit. This was one of the reasons for choosing plusnet. And yet it turns out this never worked...

On BBYW it's slightly different, as you can have fixed or flex usage as well as the DTW option. Or you could have flex with DTW applied to stop you going over a certain amount.
