At least this has forced me to try tethering on my HTC Desire - works a treat - considering it is 3G it's quite fast.

Darn you RobertS - ok, I will power down for 30 mins - what harm can it do.

I see Plusnet recommend 60 minutes. They will know more about their session comntrol.

Definitely time to leave anyway. You have several very good LLU options, and you get completely away from the too aggressive BT DLM.

Let's see what stats you come up with though. The full results of a BT Performance test after the reboot would be useful as well in getting something done quickly. But a migration could be nearly as quick and less hassle.

Post reboot, 30 mins, stats are identical, but it was certainly worth a try. PlusNet finished their "automated" tests about 1:15 and said no fault, so I will press them to look further. In the meanwhile, I'm expecting a call from a Virgin laugh

Yep frown.

It looks like one of the frequent screw-ups by the DLM then - the extremely high noise margin that doesn't revert to at most 15dB on reboot.

What is most scary about the DLM is that Entanet have been on WBC since Jan 2009 and it still isn't fixed. In fact seems to have got worse. Problems there were mainly capacity planning screw-ups. The DLM never seemed to be as messed up as it is now doing on BT, Plusnet, IDNet and elsewhere.

An SNR reset is needed, if nothing else. That restarts a 10-day training period. Easy for Plusnet to trigger!

Just as an update, I just checked my router stats and my attainable rate has now gone back up to 11MB, even at 26dB SNR !

My IP profile is still 2500k according to BT.

The unfortunate thing is that PlusNet forced my hand by very poor customer service. Since they didn't appear to be bothering to sort it out - even though my call is with the faults team - I've now ditched them. September 10th -- it's all gone and Virgin is in for the next 12 months. It's costing me a little bit more but not much. However, I won't put up with poor service from PlusNet, nor price increases from BT when we're just out of a recession (possibly going back in), and they make a fortune and paid their CEO and bosses huge bonuses. Goodbuy PlusNet, goodbuy BT. BT can blame PlusNet for forcing my hand. Excellent people, let down by very poor processes dealing with speed faults.

IP profile stuck at 2500 - should be 10k.

Still no contact from PlusNet - no call, no email, no update to my ticket .... nothing.

I've still also got no idea by BT or PlusNet turned off interleaving -- it was never that way before, now:

DS Path Mode : Fast US Path Mode : Fast
DS Interleave Depth : 0 US Interleave Depth : 0

Clearly, I couldn't have turned off interleaving, and my router couldn't have turned off interleaving, so it was BT or PlusNet.

Hi js909,

I'm sorry that your fault ticket has not had much attention so far. I will assign this to a member of our faults team for you so that we can give some extra ownership and focus.

DLM has obviously struck here and has set a profile of 2500k. As you may be aware this is as your connection has been dropping over the past few days so we would need to focus on that issue first. Following that and 72 hours of constant connectivity we should be able to get things back to where they should be in terms of connection speeds.

Are you saying the BT speed test shows the 2500 profile, or your Plusnet control panel?

Plusnet hold a copy and that can be slow or fail to update. The only place to be sure, (except even that is playing up), is the BT speed tester.
