I found the TG582N to be choppy on sync stats compared to the 7800N. It didn't like to lock at 3db SNR, while the 7800N was rock solid.

It's being discussed as the router on FTTC, with an Openreach modem smile.

So?

I'm making the point that it's a more stable router.

Bored Bob?

You made the point that the modem component of the ADSL2+ router was more stable tongue. Not in use with either piece of kit.

So your post might have been correct, but so what wrt this thread? Were you bored? wink

I made the point that my experience of the two routers is that the 7800N is more stable.

No more. No less.

You really need to step away from the keyboard and resist.

Yes, but what you said only related to the modem part, which is irrelevant in this case.

You didn't define stable, I think you mean less resync's which doesn't mean much to VDSL / FTTC users.

How do you know?

I begin to wonder if you actually know what's inside the casing and how things work.

The Billion 7800 series is not a router. It contains one. It also contains an ADSL2+ modem, and it is that modem that you found to be better.

How an ADSL2+ modem that isn't in use has any bearing on the thread is something beyond my ken. Routers are not responsible for sync stability. The modem on the line is. You said the Billion gives more stable ADSL2+ connection. So what?

Bored?

Er, that's doesn't say anything sadly. As you've posted before you're on ADSL and so for your use case it was better, on ADSL. Doesn't help someone using a VDSL service with an external modem into an ethernet WAN port.
