Been on it 2 days now and although I'm not to Happy with speeds (not a sky fault) the connection so far seems steady - pings not great - but I seem to be able to download at a higher rate than I could before - so kinda balance out I suppose

Much better and much more stable for me as opposed to my old PlusNet connection!

Previous sync used to be about 3.5megs - now connecting between 6 - 7 megs - massive improvement.

Sky service seems to be stable (although it took 2 weeks for mine to become stable) and despite what you hear about the Sky router, it seems to be perfectly fine for me (once I customised the settings for my own needs).

Actual download speeds though are hovering around the 2Meg mark - not great but better than what I had!

For the price though you can't go wrong - I would have Sky TV regardless of whether I had BB from them or not so instead of paying 21.99/month for internet, I'm literally only paying 5/month (mid package) for what I can see as a better service!

I've been connected since last Friday. Connect to the MAX package at about 6600 - 6800. Downloads were hovering around the 300 mark, but after readin around, ran TCP Optimizer and have not got downloads averaging 670, from Microsoft. WM11 - 24Mb came down in a matter of seconds.

No dropouts so far, only change is me rebooting the router to try and sync faster, and to remove the 416 upload limit - should be 768 for the max package.

All in all, at this moment in time, I am happy. Please don't curse my connection though.

My activation date was the Fri 11th for the mid package. Unfortunately I was away all that day and most of Sat 12th. Hooked the router up Sat evening and everything was fine. A little on the slow side (3-5meg) initially but now connected at a steady 7meg.

I was only on 1meg with Wanapoo and speed wasn't the main reason I switched to Sky. The 12.99 per month I'm saving did the trick for me. Happy days!

I'll also be joining up as good deal, 5 pounds for up to 8Mb and 40GB usage limit,

Currently on 17.50 per month for 1Mb connection with PIPEX with a 15GB usage limit, contract expires on 10 Feb.

Have requested a MAC code today from PIPEX which will give to Sky at beginning of January so migration should hopefully coincide with the end of my contract.
Don't know how long these things take.

Sky are also offering a free Wireless router worth 50 pounds. My laptop is wireless enabled but my desktop PC isn't. It mentions that I can buy the necessary equipment from Sky for my desktop PC. Does anyone know how much this is?
